We need to demand more of our media.
Germany is no accident, the rise in freak weather events is endemic across the planet. The rate of them happening is much higher than what scientists could have predicted. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/jul/16/climate-scientists-shocked-by-scale-of-floods-in-germany
Depressing as it may be, climate change needs to be discussed by the media as the central issue of our time. Anything that poses such an existential threat to humanity should not be sidelined and it is up to our media to do more to report on climate change constantly.
Infact, every other issue should be discussed with relation to climate change, everything political, social or cultural needs to be discussed through it’s relation to climate change.
This is a terrifying state of affairs. But everyone needs to be aware of it.
